Catwalk Challenge

Can your team design, create and choreograph a fashion show? Well now is your chance to give it a go with our Cat Walk Challenge

Numbers:   10 – 250 participants
Location:   Indoors
Times:   2 to 4 hours

Emphasis:

Planning, delegation, creativity and expression

Overview:
The challenge is to design and create a fashion collection that’ll leave the fashion press scrabbling for adjectives. Using fabrics, textiles, vintage clothing, accessories and materials as diverse as bubblewrap, chicken wire and old rope, your team will experience all the pressures, anxieties and elation’s of life in the fast lane of fashion.

The Objectives:

  • Encourage creative expression and imagination
  • Stimulate thinking 'outside the box'
  • To provide a light hearted opportunity for individuals to get really creative
  • To create a result the whole group has achieved.

The Brief:
The scene is set, the catwalk is ready. But there are no collections in sight! The group is split into teams and set the task of designing and creating a range of clothing to meet the brief, within a tight time scale. Once the clothes are finished they must be modelled at the catwalk show.

Structure:
Each team table will have the basics to plan and make some initial designs including a dressmaker’s mannequin. They will need to purchase materials from a textile shop to achieve their objectives. Extra equipment is also provided and must be paid for and booked in advance. For example, patterns, sewing machines and expert advice.

The Finale:
Judges and guests will be invited to watch the fashion show later on that day. The teams need to make sure they are ready backstage and that they have the running order, music and choreography 100%. Photographers will also be there to take shots of the final collections.
